Swine Flu Update

There have so far been over 100 cases of swine flu here in Ireland but most of these have been of a minor nature. The current outbreak is being caused by a virus known as A(H1N1) which has spread rapidly across the world and appears to be highly infectious.

The symptoms of swine flu are similar to that of the regular flu and include high temperature, muscle aches and pains,  headaches, dry cough and sore throat. Some cases also get diarhoea and vomiting. If you think you may have contracted the swine flu, please contact us by phone for advice. We can arrange to see you at a time when others are unlikely to be in the surgery and can carry out a swab test to confirm the presence of the A(H1N1) infection. Anti-viral drugs are available if required for those who have the infection.

Further informaton on managing an attack of the swine flu is available here.
